Copywriting is about understanding a client's needs. It's about promoting a brand, delivering a message, attracting the right kind of attention. The best copy does all that with a touch of poetry.

My clients have included The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, The Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Indianapolis Arts Center, The Arts Council of Indianapolis, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), and a host of other nonprofit and for-profit organizations. I've also worked with advertising agencies, design firms and marketing and communications companies on projects for their clients. Currently I am a partner and head copywriter at CODA Brand, a marketing and advertising firm.

Among my past projects are:

  • A comprehensive online history of The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, the largest museum of its type in the world, can be found at thehistory/ I researched and wrote most of the entries.

  • A short documentary film commissioned by the federal government’s General Services Administration, telling the story of the restoration of the artwork "Color Fuses" at the Minton-Capehart Federal Building in downtown Indianapolis. Directed and produced by filmmaker Mark Williams, the film combines interviews with the mural’s designer Milton Glaser, fine art conservators, lighting designers, and local art and architecture historians to illustrate the complexities of the restoration work and the team's commitment and dedication to completing Glaser's vision. I helped conceptualize the film, selected the interview clips andwrote the production script. The finished film can be seen at

  • Case statements for fund-raising campaigns conducted by The Children's Museum of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Art Center, as well as for a rebranding effort by the Arts Council of Indianapolis.

While I continue to freelance as a copywriter, I’m also part of a boutique agency. Together with graphic designers Lloyd Brooks and Doug Diedrich, both veterans of the advertising world, I am a partner in CODA BRAND, a strategic branding and marketing firm.
