Copywriting is about understanding a client's needs. It's about promoting a brand, delivering a message, attracting the right kind of attention. The best copy does all that with a touch of poetry.

My clients have included Lilly Endowment, The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art, The Indianapolis Museum of Art, The Indianapolis Arts Center, The Arts Council of Indianapolis, and a host of other nonprofit and for-profit organizations. I've also worked with advertising agencies, design firms and marketing and communications companies on projects for their clients.

Among my past projects are:

  • Articles for Lilly Endowment’s annual report (2018-2023) covering a variety of projects funded by the Endowment, which is one of the country’s most respected philanthropic foundations. I have written about housing programs, community centers with innovative programs to help improve the lives of impoverished individuals and families, wildlife conservation efforts, and college-prep programs run by regional universities.

  • A series of hands-on lesson plans for kid-friendly activities based artworks created by Native American artists who are featured in the Eiteljorg Museum’s collection.

  • A comprehensive online history of The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, the largest museum of its type in the world. I researched and wrote most of the 140 entries. It debuted in 2013 and remained online until 2021 when it was taken down for updating and redesign. It is not currently available.

  • A short documentary film commissioned by the federal government’s General Services Administration, telling the story of the restoration of the artwork "Color Fuses" at the Minton-Capehart Federal Building in downtown Indianapolis. Directed and produced by filmmaker Mark Williams, the film combines interviews with the mural’s designer Milton Glaser, fine art conservators, lighting designers, and local art and architecture historians to illustrate the complexities of the restoration work and the team's commitment and dedication to completing Glaser's vision. I helped conceptualize the film, selected the interview clips, and wrote the production script.

  • Case statements for fund-raising campaigns conducted by The Children's Museum of Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Art Center, as well as for a rebranding effort by the Arts Council of Indianapolis.

  • Numerous articles in members magazines for the Indianapolis Museum of Art and The Children's Museum of Indianapolis.

As a copywriter, I thrive on collaboration with designers, photographers, art directors, videographers, artists, curators, educators, and other professionals. The goal is always to create products that are high-quality representations of clients and their organizations, products, or services. Whether it's an advertising or promotional campaign, organizational branding/rebranding, fund-raising materials, a Website, a video, or something altogether different, I’m here to work with you as a creative collaborator.
